Weekly food post!

Those of you that know me know that I love food! I realize that I haven’t really posted much (or anything) on food in this blog. Well NO MORE! I live in a country that is becoming more and more famous every day for its wonderful food and I want to share the delicious food that I eat on a regular basis here in Korea. 20150111_192253 This week I’m going to start with one of my all time favorite Korean meals and that is barbecue. We usually go to the same restaurant and order some delicious pork or beef. This time around we ordered the beef (Sogalmegisal) 20150111_192257 It comes out raw and you cook it on the barbecue at your table. The reason that we love this restaurant is partly because of the delicious meat but also because of the great sides! We usually get some bean sprouts (they are great when heated on the grill and eaten with the meat) 20150111_191653 We also get an amazing egg dish that is great to eat while you are waiting for the meat to cook. 20150111_191726

Another great side dish is the salad that is mixed with a great sauce. Another side dish that is great when eaten with the meat.

20150111_191713One of the side dishes that I’m not too fond of is the acorn jelly cold soup. I don’t know maybe it’s the fact that the jelly is a horrible brown color that turns me off but I guess you just have to try it for yourself!

You also get some onions in a soy sauce for dipping the meat in and an oil and salt mix.

20150111_191647 A great way to eat your food in Korea is to use the leaves that come with your barbecue put your meat inside with a dash of the ssamjang (red paste) and add any of the side dishes that you like. Close the wrap up and eat it all in one bite. It’s delicious! 20150111_191736 20150111_192617   Another reason that we like this restaurant so much is because their doenjang jjigae (Soybean paste soup) is second to none! This soup is so delicious that i get some serious cravings for it when I haven’t had it for a while. It is spicy and has tofu and cucumber in it and is perfect when eaten with rice! 20150111_191741   The best thing about eating out in Korea is that because it’s such a popular thing to do it’s really not very expensive! That entire meal (including a coke) cost us 20,000w between the two of us which is about $18 or 15 euro! 20150111_192253
